I saw a recent aerial photo of the Constellation under tow. It looked like it was being towed backwards. What is the reason for that?

Not sure which photo you are referring to as early on in the voyage from Balboa, Panama, we did turn around due to avoidance of a Hurricane.
If you are referring to the NASA photo…look closely on either sides of the bow you can see a tug…the one on the stern to “stabilize” ?
It was for steering in close quarters.
