The Project:

Working with Jacob’s Field Services to dismantle antiquated Long-Range Aid to Navigation (LORAN) stations at Port Clarence and Attu, Alaska, Foss provided turnkey break-bulk, HAZ-MAT and liquid petroleum cargo transportation. Foss delivered construction equipment and empty containers to each site, and removed hazardous materials, fuel and other gear. Foss shuttled the removed cargo to Anchorage and the Lower United States, making multiple trips to each location.

Highlights

  • Fast track project with three weeks from quote to project start
  • Made successful landings at Port Clarence, near Nome, and at Attu Island, 850 miles west of Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands
  • Provided three tugs, a ramp barge and two tank barges. Also arranged rough terrain cargo handling services and equipment
  • Removed and transported over 200,000 gallons of diesel fuel from existing tank farms and reconfigured piping for reverse flow, safely and without incident
  • Provided additional services including; terminal services, freight forwarding, air freight and charters, trucking, Haz-Mat transportation and testing, equipment rental, and stevedoring services
